Notification of each ship visit must be given at least 24 hours before arrival in PCS.

We will notify you via email whether you need any additional exemptions or permits.

Consult the lock schedule for the most up-to-date planning information for ships using the IJmuiden North Lock.

Make a public berth reservation, if necessary.

Order the nautical service providers up to two hours before arrival.

Arrival and stay in the port

Upon arrival, the captain and the Harbour Master establish contact through VHF.

During your stay, you can dispose of ship waste or apply for an exemption or permit.

Berth shift and departure

Report any berth shifts or departures in time via PCS and order the nautical service providers up to two hours before departure.

Invoices for the harbour dues and for extra services - if there are any - will be sent to your agent.

Changes to VTS Sectors

Please note: On 30 September, a reorganization and expansion of the VTS sectors will take effect. The current VTS Sector Amsterdam will be divided into two new sectors: Westhaven (VHF 4) and Sector Stad (VHF 5).

Contact the Harbor Master's Division to report arrival and departure, with operational reporting, to ask for assistance with permits and exemptions, to indicate hazardous substances, and learn more about waiting areas, for example.

  • Seaport Dues Application: a digital form for submitting a quick, easy and efficient statements regarding seaport dues.

The layout of the VTS sectors is being revised to further optimize communication between vessel traffic operators and waterway users. This revision includes a reorganization and expansion of the VTS sectors. For example, a new VTS sector will be added on the Afgesloten IJ: Channel 5, Sector Stad.

Sea cruise ships can now make use of shore power at the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam (PTA). Thanks to the new installation, vessels can switch off their onboard generators upon docking, significantly reducing emissions and noise pollution. Starting in 2027, the use of shore power at this location will become mandatory—three years ahead of European regulations.

Recently, the first bunkering operations with liquid hydrogen took place in the port of Amsterdam. It was the first time in the Netherlands that a vessel was bunkered with this form of hydrogen. The superyacht Breakthrough, docked at Feadship, was supplied with this alternative fuel.
