Changes to VTS Sectors
Please note: Since 30 September, a reorganization and expansion of the VTS sectors is in effect. The VTS Sector Amsterdam will be divided into two new sectors: Westhaven (VHF 4) and Sector Stad (VHF 5).

Description of the block channels and the supporting channels

Call sign IJmuiden Aanloop
Supporting VHF Channel for ships that pass through IJmuiden. This channel is there as the first contact for ships with the Amsterdam North Sea Channel as their destination. On this channel, information such as the following is exchanged:
- Shipping and cargo information
- Pulling in and mooring
- Traffic planning
- Pilotages
- Anchoring advice

Sector IJmuiden
- Notification requirement when entering the region
- It is mandatory to listen to the navigation channel
- It is mandatory to be contactable through this communication channel

Info channel Sluis IJmuiden
Information channel for the North Sea channels, planning and allocation.

Sector Noordzeekanaal

Sector Westhaven

VHF channel in support of VTS for passenger ships. On this channel you can get information regarding the following:
- the settlement of the trip through the region
- berths
- infrastructural particularities such as activities on the fairway and stoppages
- notifications regarding shipping particularities
- processing of traffic incidents

Call sign Contact point Port
VHF channel for moored shipping as part of the Harbour Master and the Regional Port Regulation North Sea Channel area's administration tasks. On this channel, the port user has to make notifications that are a part of the regional port regulation, such as:
- commencement and completion of permitted activities
- commencement and completion of bunkering, board to board transhipment, intake waste materials, cleaning, etc.
- questions regarding services in the port
- application for exemptions, reporting on board malfunctions
- processing of (water) pollution and incidents
- receiving and processing of IVS-Next notifications
