From this week, Port of Antwerp-Bruges and Port of Amsterdam are offering Routescanner’s ‘Direct Connections’ on their websites. This service shows all available connections from the ports. Routescanner is the route planner for container shipping and shows not only the fastest container routes, but also the most sustainable.

In March, we implemented an improved version of the Applications module in MyPort. Through this module, agents arrange permits, waivers and submit notifications for vessel trips.

The port of Amsterdam welcomed a total of 41,424 barges and 7,525 sea-going vessels in 2018, including 180 sea cruise ships. The numbers for 2017 were 40,012 and 7,011, respectively.

Zenith Energy Terminals, one of the largest storage terminals in the port, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with German company INERATEC to construct a Power-to-Liquid plant in the port of Amsterdam. A Power-to-Liquid plant converts renewable energy (power) to a sustainable fuel (liquid). The plant has a planned annual production capacity of 35,000 tons and will be located on the terrain of Zenith Energy Terminals. The plant will be operational by 2027.

GIDARA Energy announced that it has received the environmental permit for the bio-methanol plant to be built at Biopark, in the port of Amsterdam. A new stage in the development of the plant to be built. This facility converts local waste into advanced methanol. The environmental permit, granted by Province of North Holland, allows GIDARA Energy to build its Advanced Methanol Amsterdam biofuels plant.

On May 10, Port of Amsterdam awarded the contract for the realization of shore power at Cruise Port Amsterdam (CPA) to Powercon A/S and with BAM as subcontractor. Both the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water management and the European Commission granted subsidies for this project.
