Maiden Call of The Great Casablanca from Grimaldi in Amsterdam

Yesterday, the vessel The Great Casablanca from the Grimaldi Group docked for the first time in the Port of Amsterdam. This impressive Container/RoRo ship is 250 meters long, 38 meters wide, and has no fewer than 12 decks. It boasts a loading capacity of 4,000 cars and 2,000 containers.

Stricter nitrogen regulations introduces

A ruling by the Dutch Council of State on December 18, 2024, has further tightened nitrogen regulations—also affecting businesses in the Amsterdam port area. Entrepreneurs who emit nitrogen near protected nature areas (Natura 2000) will now more often have to meet additional conditions for new projects, even if they already hold a nature permit.

Restriction on use of open-loop scrubbers

From 1 January 2025, there will be a restriction on the use of open-loop scrubbers for seagoing vessels in the port of Amsterdam. Open-loop scrubbers discharge polluted washing water into our port waters. By this ban, we contribute to a cleaner marine environment.

Jeties Australiëhaven completed

At the cone waiting berths in the Australiehaven, three or four ships were regularly moored alongside on both sides of the jetty. This was not an ideal situation. Therefore, we replaced this jetty for two new jetties.

Due to stricter ISPS regulations, it had become impossible to combine the car drop-off point/drinking water tapping point at the mouth of Afrikahaven with a coaster waiting area on the other side of the jetty.
