New Port Dues Tariffs 2026
17 December 2025
The port dues tariffs for maritime shipping and inland navigation for 2026 have been established. The terms and conditions have also been adjusted. This annual update has been determined following consultation with the port business community. Adjusting port dues is necessary to ensure that the port can continue to operate in a sustainable, safe, efficient, and future-proof manner.
Key changes and developments
- The sea port dues tariffs will be increased by 4.13% in 2026. This adjustment has been aligned with the sector and follows the formula applied in recent years, which takes into account developments at other ports and general inflation. This creates room for investments in innovation and infrastructure.
- Larger vessels, more opportunities: With the commissioning of the IJmuiden Sea Lock and the Zoutdam, vessels are able to sail with a deeper draught, allowing larger ships to be loaded more efficiently. We are therefore increasing the maximum tonnage on which port dues are levied from 50,000 GT to 53,750 GT (and to 57,500 GT in 2027).
- New tariff category for innovative objects: A separate tariff category has been introduced for floating objects without Gross Tonnage. This encourages innovative projects and sustainability initiatives within the port area.
- Promoting cleaner sea cruising: For sea cruise vessels, a surcharge or discount applies depending on the ship’s sustainability performance (TIER class). This scheme has been expanded to include the use of shore power. Sea cruise vessels that use shore power may benefit from discounts, while vessels that do not connect to shore power will pay a higher surcharge. In this way, the port encourages the reduction of emissions and noise pollution.
- Exemption for inland navigation sailing and rest times at ’t Slik: From 2026, inland navigation skippers will be able to take rest at the IJ Spud Pole Waiting Area without paying inland port dues. This has been made possible in cooperation with Rijkswaterstaat. Prior notification via VHF channel 66 is required. This helps skippers comply with the Working Hours Decree for inland navigation vessels.
