New: PACT service for terminals and agents

PACT is a new service on the online port portal MyPort for outgoing sea vessels from agents and terminals in the Amsterdam port. After a successful pilot last year, a robust version of PACT was built this year. By 14 April 2023, PACT will be ready for use.

High salt levels in the North Sea Canal

Due to the drought of the past weeks and the lack of precipitation, the Netherlands is experiencing low river water levels and high salt levels in the canal. The low water levels mean that less water can be brought in, resulting in high salt levels in the North Sea Canal.

The construction of Zeesluis IJmuiden (the new sea lock) will be completed this summer!

In the coming months, OpenIJ is working on the final stages of the construction of Zeesluis IJmuiden. This summer, OpenIJ delivers the largest sea lock in the world to Rijkswaterstaat. This will be followed by an extensive test phase of the lock gates (number 3 on the picture). Tests with sea-going ships are schedules as from October.
