New state harbour master appointed

Effective 1 November 2019, Milembe Mateyo (1970) will be appointed Harbour Master of Amsterdam, State Harbour Master North Sea Canal and Director of the Central Nautical Management. She will be heading the Harbour Master's Division, which carries out the nautical tasks of Port of Amsterdam.

Port of Amsterdam transhipment increases in the first half-year by more than 12%

Transhipment in the North Sea Canal Area of the seaports of Amsterdam, IJmuiden, Beverwijk and Zaanstad rose in the first half of 2019. This was the result of an increase in transhipment in the first six months of this year in the port of Amsterdam by 12.3% – another record.

2018: increase in ship calls while number of serious accidents remains virtually unchanged

The port of Amsterdam welcomed a total of 41,424 barges and 7,525 sea-going vessels in 2018, including 180 sea cruise ships. The numbers for 2017 were 40,012 and 7,011, respectively.

Superyachts choose Amsterdam

HISWA Holland Yachting Group and Port of Amsterdam announced in May 2018 their ambition to put Amsterdam on the map as a top destination for superyachts. The last two months more than 10 superyachts have chosen Amsterdam as their destination. They include Reef Chief, Aviva, Avanti, Forever One and Big Eagle.
