Maximum ESI discount doubled for ships with ESI certificates and LNG

For some years Port of Amsterdam has been giving discounts on port dues to vessels listed in the Environmental Ship Index (ESI) that have attained an ESI score of 20 points or higher. As of 1 August, we will be increasing this incentive by adding another discount.

River cruise generates revenue of more than € 200 million and 1,690 jobs for ACP region

In 2017, the river cruise business generated over half a million passenger visits for the ACP region. This provided revenue of more than € 206 million and added value of more than € 87 million. The sector accounts for 1,690 jobs in the ACP region. This was revealed by the analysis carried out by the research firm Decisio for Amsterdam Cruise Port (ACP).

Fourth Feadship yard taking shape in Amsterdam

Feadship has celebrated a major milestone in the construction of its fourth shipyard, located in a prime water-side location in the heart of Amsterdam. In the presence of invited guests, the first concrete was poured into the giant dry dock, part of an impressive feat of engineering involved in building such a facility in a city that is several metres under sea level. When completed at the end of 2018, the yard will also include a giant hall for building new superyachts of up to 160 metres in length along with refits of existing Feadships.

Titan LNG commits to building first LNG bunkering pontoon in Europe

Titan LNG, one of the leading suppliers of LNG to the marine and industrial markets in North West Europe, has taken the final investment decision (FID) on the first LNG bunkering pontoon in Europe, the Titan LNG FlexFueler1. The FlexFueler1 has been financed with support from the Province of North-Holland.

Environmental Ship Index now includes score for carbon performance

The Environmental Ship Index (ESI) added carbon performance as a new criterion on 1 July 2017. Previously, the index only weighted the environmental performance of vessels based on their sulphur oxide and nitrogen oxide emissions. This makes the index the first sustainability standard in international shipping that includes carbon performance – and, specifically, the reduction of carbon emissions – in its scores.

A new step towards cleaner air in North Holland

A ban on degassing of benzene and of cargo containing benzene during sailing will apply in North Holland with effect from 1 March 2017. This measure will contribute to a better environment and cleaner inland navigation.
