‘Hi! I’m chatbot Eef, and I look forward to answering questions about your inland navigation visit.’ These are the opening words of Eef, our brand new chatbot, that will be inviting boatmasters to ask questions about their visit to Amsterdam.

Athos, the joint project set up by Gasunie, EBN, Port of Amsterdam and Tata Steel for carbon capture, transport, utilisation and storage in the North Sea Canal region, put out a call for potential customers and carbon storage partners in November 2019 and received a very pleasing number of responses

Port of Amsterdam was awarded an LME certification this week by the London Metal Exchange (LME). From now on, Amsterdam is listed as a goods delivery point for aluminium, aluminium alloy, lead, nickel, tin and zinc.

Alexander Kousbroek has been appointed Port of Amsterdam’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective 1 January 2021. He will be succeeding Michiel de Brauw, who is resigning from his position on 31 December 2020.

A ban on degassing of benzene and of cargo containing benzene during sailing will apply in North Holland with effect from 1 March 2017. The Executive of North Holland approved the amendment of the provincial environmental regulations on 20 December, to contribute to cleaner inland navigation.

From 1 January 2025, there will be a restriction on the use of open-loop scrubbers for seagoing vessels in the port of Amsterdam. Open-loop scrubbers discharge polluted washing water into our port waters. By this ban, we contribute to a cleaner marine environment.

At the cone waiting berths in the Australiehaven, three or four ships were regularly moored alongside on both sides of the jetty. This was not an ideal situation. Therefore, we replaced this jetty for two new jetties.

Due to stricter ISPS regulations, it had become impossible to combine the car drop-off point/drinking water tapping point at the mouth of Afrikahaven with a coaster waiting area on the other side of the jetty.
