Extended Berthing Duration in the IJhaven Remains Available

20 July 2026

Good news for inland shipping: the option to request an extended berthing duration in the IJhaven has now become a permanent arrangement.

After a successful pilot, actively operating inland cargo vessels can now request an extension of their berthing period at the designated locations in the IJhaven, Sumatra‑ and Surinamekade.

Vessels are normally allowed to moor for a maximum of 7 days. Under certain conditions, this period can be extended to a maximum stay of 21 days. The arrangement offers skippers additional flexibility, for example during holiday periods or when a vessel does not need to depart immediately for its next destination.

A permit can easily be requested via MyPort. Various conditions apply, including a maximum vessel length of 110 metres, a generator ban, and requirements to prevent noise and odour nuisance.
