2018: increase in ship calls while number of serious accidents remains virtually unchanged

The port of Amsterdam welcomed a total of 41,424 barges and 7,525 sea-going vessels in 2018, including 180 sea cruise ships. The numbers for 2017 were 40,012 and 7,011, respectively.

Nouryon, Tata Steel, and Port of Amsterdam partner to develop the largest green hydrogen cluster in Europe

Nouryon, Tata Steel and Port of Amsterdam have joined together to study the feasibility of a large green hydrogen cluster in the Amsterdam region. The three parties consider green hydrogen as vital for reaching climate targets and building a more circular economy, for example by combining it with emissions from steel manufacture to make new products.

Approval of Westpoort Noise Dispersion Plan

The City Council of Amsterdam officially approved the ‘Westpoort Noise Dispersion Plan’. The zoning plan divides the available noise zones in the Westpoort section of the Port among the plots of land located in the area.

Plan for Haven-Stad (Port City) at odds with interests of port

The City of Amsterdam’s plan to build 70,000 residential properties in and around the port is at odds with the interests of both the port and the businesses in the port, particularly during the transformation period. Port of Amsterdam has therefore responded to the plan. The public consultation period ended yesterday.

Port of Amsterdam advocates need for safety at shore connection

Port of Amsterdam supports the intention of the Amsterdam City Council to construct a fixed shore connection as part of efforts to further boost the development of the city’s Northern borough. However, Port of Amsterdam has released the statement below following the adoption by the Amsterdam City Council of the Provincial Executive’s preferred decision on 20 July.

Higher turnover for Port of Amsterdam in 2015

Port of Amsterdam (Havenbedrijf Amsterdam NV) realised a turnover of € 147.4 million in 2015. An increase of 3.5% compared to 2014. The net result for 2015 came to € 52.6 million. These and other key figures are stated in the annual report published today.
