How to connect to shore power

Welcome in the port of Amsterdam. Thank you for using shore power. It is better for the environment and helps reduce noise pollution for the surrounding area. On this page you can read how to connect your vessel to the shore power cabinet. Would you like to connect to shore power but are experiencing a malfunction? Please report this at Ease2Pay.eu or call Ease2Pay at +31 (0)88 170 77 03.

What do you need?

To connect to a shore power cabinet in the Port of Amsterdam, you will need:

  • A phone or computer
  • A working CEE plug (red for river cruise) or a Powerlock connector
  • Check whether your inland vessel complies with the NBN-EN 15869-3:2019 standard

Connect to shore power in four steps

1) Register via Ease2Pay

Download the Ease2Pay Shore Power app on your mobile phone. Once your registration is completed, you can use the service. By default, one power connection is allowed per account. Do you need two connections? Please inform Ease2Pay. This can be done during office hours.
If one account only allows one connection but you need two, you may also use the account of a sister vessel for the second connection.

Safe connection

NBN-EN 15869 standard

The shore power cabinets in the Port of Amsterdam are installed in accordance with the NBN-EN 15869 standard. To use shore power safely, it is important that your inland vessel complies with the NBN-EN 15869-3:2019 standard. If it does, you can connect without problems.

Water and dust protection

With an IP67 shore power cable or shore power plug, you are guaranteed a water- and dust-proof and safe connection to the shore power cabinet.

Isolation transformer

The shore power cabinets are equipped with an isolation transformer. This allows you to safely use the installations on board and also prevents electrolytic corrosion of the vessel.

Soft start switch

IA soft-start switch is built into the isolation transformer. This ensures that the power is switched on gradually when connecting, preventing the shore fuse from being overloaded.
