Last January Greenergy announced completion of its upgrade to the biofuels plant in the port of Amsterdam. Due to this upgrade, production capability has increased by as much as 25 percent, and the plant can now process more diverse feedstocks to meet the rising demand for waste-based biofuels.

Effective 1 November 2019, Milembe Mateyo (1970) will be appointed Harbour Master of Amsterdam, State Harbour Master North Sea Canal and Director of the Central Nautical Management. She will be heading the Harbour Master's Division, which carries out the nautical tasks of Port of Amsterdam.

Transhipment in the North Sea Canal Area of the seaports of Amsterdam, IJmuiden, Beverwijk and Zaanstad rose in the first half of 2019. This was the result of an increase in transhipment in the first six months of this year in the port of Amsterdam by 12.3% – another record.

Since March, no sailing cruise vessel could be found in the port of Amsterdam. Together with the Security Region, Port of Amsterdam decided to suspend cruise from the port for safety reasons.

Together with around fifty other maritime parties, ports, and shipping companies, we signed a Call to Action during the week of COP29 to accelerate the use of zero-emission fuels in shipping. The aim is to make at least 5 percent, and preferably 10 percent, of shipping fuels emission-free by 2030.
