Access breakwater at the Haparanda Dam

Cars were regularly parked on the breakwater at Haparanda Dam, even though this is not allowed.

Jeties Australiëhaven completed

At the cone waiting berths in the Australiehaven, three or four ships were regularly moored alongside on both sides of the jetty. This was not an ideal situation. Therefore, we replaced this jetty for two new jetties.

Due to stricter ISPS regulations, it had become impossible to combine the car drop-off point/drinking water tapping point at the mouth of Afrikahaven with a coaster waiting area on the other side of the jetty.

Inland shipping and climate change

Recent years have shown that climate change also has its effects on inland shipping. Both high and low tides can disrupt inland navigation. Effects can include not being able to sail in January because the Oranjesluis was blocked, or sailing with less cargo per ship.

From now on, more longer-term berths

Barges can now apply for a berth at the Sumatra or Suriname quay for a longer period, namely 3 weeks in addition to the standard period of 7 days. So in total for a period of four weeks.

No trash bags next to containers

Port of Amsterdam has placed containers at various locations where bargees can dispose their waste free of charge. These bins are emptied every Tuesday or earlier if the container is full.
