Port of Amsterdam is the world’s largest port for cocoa bean imports. All facilities, from transhipment to manufacturing, are available in the region. Big players in the cocoa industry, like Cargill, OLAM and Dutch Cocoa are established in de Amsterdam Region. Companies handling and storing cocoa or cocoa products are CWT Commodities, Katoen Natie, Vollers, Steinweg-Handelsveem, HD Cotterell, ACS and DSV. All is done in one region.

Furthermore, the port of Amsterdam has excellent hinterland connections (water, rail, road, air) for cocoa transportation. The port of Amsterdam region has also outstanding inland shipping facilities. Many cocoa terminals are directly connected to frequent barge shuttles into Europe.
