Jan Lagasse is new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Port of Amsterdam

Shareholder the City of Amsterdam has appointed Jan Lagasse as Supervisory Board (RvC) Chairman of Port of Amsterdam with effect from 1 April 2022. He succeeds Jeroen de Haas, who will be standing down from the Port of Amsterdam Supervisory Board after nine years as a supervisory director with effect from the same date.

Sustainability of Amsterdam port and region under pressure due to congestion on electricity network

Liander announced that a large part of Amsterdam will be in congestion, including the port area. This means that newly established companies (leads) and existing companies will not receive new or additional electricity. In other words, the power grid is full. This congestion will affect the sustainability of business processes and products of companies in the area, and thus of the port, in the years to come. Because the port plays a crucial role in the city and port’s ambition to be climate neutral by 2050, concerns are considerable. This congestion requires the highest priority and creativity from energy companies, governments and politicians in order to be resolved.

H2A consortium takes next step in realizing a European import chain for green hydrogen

Last Friday, Ramon Ernst (managing director Evos) and Eduard de Visser (director strategy & innovation Port of Amsterdam), on behalf of the H2A consortium, handed over the blueprint for the import of one million tons of green hydrogen via the port of Amsterdam to Diederik Samsom, Head of Cabinet of Vice President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans.
