We are doing so in close cooperation with the Municipality of Zaanstad.

Why are these grants being offered?

The industrial estates HoogTij and Westpoort are developing at a rapid pace. In order to facilitate future expansion, the noise zones were modified in 2015, permitting more noise from industry to reach its surroundings. In the summer of 2017, Port of Amsterdam, in consultation with the Municipality of Zaanstad, started installing sound insulation in homes in order to reduce the nuisance caused for nearby homes as much as possible.

In addition to the insulation referred to above, Port of Amsterdam is now, in conjunction with the Municipality of Zaanstad, providing grants for installing sound-insulating ventilation. This will make it possible to ventilate homes without opening windows or doors, which might be accompanied by excessive noise levels.

Port of Amsterdam has launched these projects to improve the quality of life around the Port of Amsterdam and the North Sea Canal.
