A nationwide degassing ban for inland navigation tankers is to be introduced in the Netherlands. Dutch Minister for Infrastructure and Environment Cora van Nieuwenhuizen wants the international agreements on degassing to be implemented in the Netherlands in mid-2020. A taskforce will be set up in order to ensure in partnership with the business community that the introduction of this national degassing ban runs smoothly. Port of Amsterdam is one of the organisations that will be participating in this process. This marks another step in our liveability programme: a clean and safe port region for local residents and businesses.
