Many intermodal connections
As one of the world’s key international logistics hub, the port of Amsterdam offers many intermodal connections to efficiently transit freight supplied by deep sea or air from the port into the hinterland or vice versa. It enables reliable transportation for e.g. containers and bulk freight such as coal and oil products. The Port of Amsterdam Intermodal Planner provides customers an easy planning tool for their intermodal freight transportation.
Intermodal transport: efficiently and sustainable
The terminals in the port of Amsterdam region are optimally connected to the intermodal network of rail, road and inland waterways. This enables easy, congestion free and quick door-to-door transport into the Netherlands and the rest of Europe. Port of Amsterdam encourages the sustainable and energy efficient intermodal transport via water and rail and supports (international) projects to advance these modalities.
New possibilities with new, biggest sea-lock of the world
The port always seeks opportunities to become faster, smarter and cleaner. With the realization of the new and biggest sea-lock of the world in 2022 (500 meters long, 70 meters wide and 18 meters deep), the port of Amsterdam will be ready to welcome more and bigger ships at te same time. This new lock also offers more capacity 24/7 hours a day, tideless, safe, time efficient and more flexibility. The time to consider new possibilities is now. We welcome you at the port of Amsterdam!
