Ships may experience a possible transverse offset when entering the IJmuiden Middle Lock or North Lock from the west

Recent reports state that ships approaching the IJmuiden Middle Lock and the IJmuiden North Lock from the west have occasionally been offset to the north or the south just before entering the lock. This could probably be caused by the asymmetry of the outer approach channels to the Middle Lock and the North Lock as a result of the removal of the western part of the Middle Lock Island.

All ships are therefore urgently advised to take this possible offset into account when entering the lock in question.
