Control Measures Canal Lighting North Sea Canal

The Director of the Public Body Central Nautical Management, who is also the State Harbour Master, announces the following:

Because most of the canal lighting of the North Sea Canal is defective, it will be renewed before December 2019. Preparatory work for this has already started. To ensure that shipping traffic on the North Sea Canal runs smoothly and safely, the following two temporary control measures have been introduced:

1. Between Buitenhuizen and Wim Thomassenhaven, 22 red can light-buoys, Iso R 8s, have been established at short distances from the north bank of the North Sea Canal.

Each of the buoys is fitted with a red cylinder as topmark. The buoys have been placed in the following positions:

 

2. On the southern bank of the North Sea Canal, 10 yellow lamps will soon be installed.
