The Harbour Master of Amsterdam, announces the following:
In the Port of Amsterdam so-called oil port areas have been designated. The coordinates of these areas are indicated by the Harbour Master of Amsterdam in a decree which belongs to the "Regionale havenverordening Noordzeekanaalgebied 2012" (Regional Port Bye-laws for the Noordzeekanaalgebied 2012). The location of these areas are indicated in the corresponding oil port area map. Due to recent developments in regard to the bunkering of ships with LNG the oil port area has to be adapted. Only when a tanker is berthed the concerned area is designated as oil port area.
Tankers loading and discharging unpacked liquid inflammable cargo form, due to the dangerous properties of this cargo, a special risk in port. In order to minimize this risk areas have been designated on the basis of article 3.11 of the Regionale Havenverordening Noordzeekanaalgebied 2012 (Regional Port Bye-laws for the Noordzeekanaalgebied 2012). These areas are the so called oil port areas, in which these vessels have to berth. Other categories of shipping are not allowed to berth or transit these areas without an exemption issued by the City Council. Due to recent developments in regard to the bunkering of ships with LNG the oil port area at the Groene Kade in the Amerikahaven has to be adapted. The oil port areas are indicated by means of coordinates which are mentioned in decree 001 / RHN / 2019. These areas are shown on the map accompanying this decree. This decree is valid until December 31st, 2019.
The purpose of the oil port areas is to guarantee the safety during loading and discharging of unpacked inflammable liquids. Because of the above mentioned developments the oil port area has to be adjusted.
The relevant decree can be obtained from the Harbour Master or can be found on the internetsite from Port of Amsterdam, https://www.portofamsterdam.com/en/shipping/baors-and-other-decrees-nort...
