NuStar Amsterdam Terminal celebrates completion of major expansion project

At september 16th, NuStar Energy L.P.'s Amsterdam Terminal hosted a celebration to dedicate the newly expanded operation.

Attending were members of the NuStar executive management team from the company's US headquarters in San Antonio, Texas, including Bill Greehey, Chairman, and Curt Anastasio, President and CEO.

Expansion

In 2005 NuStar has acquired the Smid & Hollander bitumen refinery after the Port of Amsterdam had rescued the old refinery from receivership. Total investment by NuStar for the project to convert the refinery into a modern oil products storage terminal was 100 million Euros.  The expansion also included the addition of three docks for a total of seven docks at the terminal for barge and ship access.

Activities

Today, the terminal has 30 employees along with several contract employees.  Storage capacity is now 655,000 cubic meters.  One of the activities of the NuStar oil products terminal is the blending of gasoil with biodiesel. NuStar has operations in the United States, the Netherlands Antilles, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
