If you want to set up business in the Amsterdam port area then Port of Amsterdam will support you in as many ways as possible. You will receive a regular commercial manager who will learn about your business and help during the entire set-up process. The commercial manager will help you look for a fitting location and will advise you in all the relevant issues that you might meet. Once you are established, the account manager will remain your fixed contact for questions or possible complaints.

Rent or lease

The Amsterdam port area belongs to the Municipality of Amsterdam. As a company you sign a rental or lease contract with the municipality through Port of Amsterdam

Port of Amsterdam always rents out or leases vacant ground. You are expected to take care of the development and realisation of your own company building. It is also possible to take over the lease contract of an existing or departed company. In that case you lease ground and building for the remaining contract duration.

For this, permission is required from Port of Amsterdam. In the contract there is always a passage on the quality of the soil and a ban on pollution of the soil.

Building

For the building on your corporate site, a building and environmental permit is required from the municipality. The commercial manager of Port of Amsterdam will advise you where possible along this permit process.

There is also a building inspector employed to enforce regulations regarding the external appearance of buildings. A positive advice is one of the conditions for issuance of a building permit.

Port of Amsterdam is represented in Welfare Contact Westpoort (Welstand Contact Westpoort): the body that draws up the advice for the municipal building inspectors.

Expansion

Do you require extra space? Then there is the opportunity of taking out an option on a neighbouring site or to speak out a right of first refusal. This way you are assured of sufficient space well in time. You pay Port of Amsterdam a small consideration for this service. The limiting condition is that the neighbouring terrain is actually vacant.
